La Llorona

Hush, my children, go you all to sleep,

Hush my children, close your little eyes,

Here in the water down by the lake,

You and I will feed ourselves to the flies;

Once I was a young rose full of joy,

With my handsome lover tall and proud,

I thought he would love me forevermore,

Now the whole house crashes round me so loud;

Day by day he leaves for longer nights

Night by night I cry in bed alone,

I should have never bought that whorish maid,

Now his legacy will rot to only bone;

Hush, my children, go you all to sleep,

Hush my children, close your little eyes,

Here in the water down by the lake,

You and I will feed ourselves to the flies;
